Employee Handbook

Employee handbooks play an important role communicating to employees their duties and expectations of management. It sets important policies regarding protection of your trade secrets, and standardizes across the company important policies, such as the timing and manner of performance appraisals, salary reviews, benefits and open communications. It can protect you from legal actions from employees by assuring compliance with applicable laws. An example is defining the employment relationship as at the will of either the employee or employer and not a contractual relationship.

Handbooks are often thought of as another document to collect dust. In fact, employee handbooks act as an extension of you, the owner. It sets the tone for culture and expectations.
